Gr8 Trakz also known as Kevin Lamar is a producer like no other. Trakz has stamped his indelible imprint on the music scene since the late-90s. Recently receiving “Producer of the Year” from the 2014 Ga. Music Awards. His production has helped create career-defining hits for artists such as Tye Tribbett, Andreena Mills, Jali, D’ambra Renee, Cupid, Maria Verdall, and Stereomonsters among many others. Respected beyond the genres of R&B, urban and rock music, Trakz, whose musical influences cross cultural lines, has also been sought by diverse superstars whose music similarly knows no boundaries.
Born in Newark, NJ, Gr8 Trakz, so named by a member of Warner Bros., still remembers the day he received his name. He was sitting in the studio engineering a track for an artist who needed music. Kevin played some of the music he had produced. The artist asked whose track it was; Because most people didn’t know his name, someone said that it was ‘Greats’ track’ because ‘great’ was a word that Kevin always used thus Gr8 Trakz was born.
Gr8 Trakz introduced a unique rhythmic style that defines the new wave of music R&B and hip-hop mixed with a soulful feel held together by complex syncopated beats. At the same time, Gr8 Trakz is currently hard at work, not only is he establishing his production company: Gr8 Trakz Productions, but he just got off tour with artist Asher Roth. An accomplished drummer, Kevin Lamar is one of the finest drummers on today’s music scene. He possesses both talent and skill and also exemplifies true musicianship.
Nurtured in a talented family of musicians and singers, music is interwoven into the very fabric of his being. Music is his destiny – every heartbeat exudes a natural sense of rhythm. He has appeared on The Carson Daly Show and is still earning frequent flyer miles traveling from state to state, and continent to continent, touring as a highly sought drummer.
